Stress and the effect on cortisol & aldosterone levels

Did you know that stress affects your cortisol and aldosterone levels? Aldosterone regulates your potassium and sodium levels and ultimately your blood pressure. Thus the connection between elevated stress leading to elevated blood pressure.

Stress also creates higher cortisol levels which has an inhibitory effect on your thyroid converting T4 to T3, thus leaving you feeling sluggish.

Elevation of cortisol affects your blood sugar levels. It also affects your fat-burning capacity so it is more difficult to lose weight and elevated cortisol levels that are long-term can induce a host of other problems.
